Renee Sher (Founder,
Science Education Director and Owner)
Renee
Sher (Mrs. S) is the founder, curriculum
developer, science expert and teacher. Her
personal inspiration for teaching science to
children propelled the business from an idea
to a reality.
She recalls, with complete clarity, an
elementary school teacher who opened her
eyes to the excitement of science, and
kindled her lifelong science focus. After
receiving a B.S. in molecular biology at San
Jose State, she worked in biotech, starting
work in a clean room, then in the lab. Her
career continued with Oral-B, first in the
quality assurance labs, then in the
regulatory compliance department.
The Sher’s first child, Ben, was born in
late 1995, and Jessica came along in 1998.
Renee stayed home, immersing herself in the
local community surrounding her children.
In 2000 she threw a birthday party for Ben
and 20 of his friends, and the theme was
science. The kindergartners and their
parents were impressed. That summer, free
science lessons were held for those
children, and the next school year, Renee
moved into the schools.
